Where has Little Hooliganz Web Site Gone?
September 24, 2006
It appears my homeland has disappeared!

Due to the threat of legal action by the Premier league, Blighty Collectables have decided to temporarily suspend the Little Hooliganz website. We thank you for all of your support and enquiries and we promise that we will be back up and running as soon as possible. We have to make a few alterations to our range of Little Hooliganz but Blighty collectors will be able to continue their collections. Thanks very much for your kind words of support.

A BLOODY SHAME
A British toy company has raised the ire of the English Premiership by offering a series of action figures called “Little Hooliganz.” The dolls represent crazed fans of the soccer league, including Terrible Henry from Arsenal, Dangerous Dirk from Chelsea and Ard Man Aaron from Newcastle. Due to the threat of legal action, however, sales of the items have been halted. Too bad. Sounds like a regular laugh riot.

Dolls that reportedly glamorise hooliganism have been criticised by the Premier League. Little Hooliganz are plastic figures of pint-sized football hooligans in the colours of top Premiership teams like Man United, Arsenal and Man City (or the Manchester City Monkey Men as they are in the world of Little Hooliganz). A Premier League spokesman said: “These are infringing clubs’ intellectual property. Our lawyers have looked at this and are sending a letter of warning. Anything that celebrates or trivialises hooliganism in any form is deplorable.” The company who make them have withdrawn them from sale, but claim that they satirize rather than glamorise football hooligans. Nice try…
Are We The Next Panini?

This guys seems to think I’m the next Panini crazy, I hope not!

We can probably all remember the joy of filling our Panini World Cup albums and collecting and trading cards with our friends as children. Well, British company Blighty Creations had a slightly different take on this childhood passtime. Rather than player cards, the company decided to launch a series of trading cards based on Britain’s most famous hooligans.

Fellow Friend Alert
September 6, 2006
Lookz like I may have friend out there, thanks the post and the picture of me in the middle of my fellow Little Hooliganz!

The Little Hooliganz are no more. While hooliganism is not something worth celebrating I could not help but find myself pulling for the lads behind this product in their legal battle with the FA. I thought was a cool idea as a collectible item or something I could have on my word desk. But fury was sparked when these dolls were being sold/marketed towards young kids, as young as three, encouraging them to collect Little Hooliganz characters depicting an entire ‘firm’ of Reading hooligans. Also marketing campaigns such as asking collectors to send in photos of their Little Hooliganz “misbehaving in obscure places” didn’t help matters either. Everyone from the FA to Football Supporters Federation to parents voiced their displeasures via released statements or lawsuits which eventually forced the company selling the Little Hooliganz, Blightly Collectibles, to stop sale of the items and eventually close up shop though with a promise of opening sometime in the future (doubt that).
